Chicago Public Schools operates seven historic municipal stadiums across the city of Chicago to serve many Chicago Public League events.

Eckersall Overhead

Eckersall Stadium

Eckersall Stadium was constructed in 1949 and is named after Walter Herbert “Eckie” Eckersall, a famed Hyde Park High School and University of Chicago football player and graduate.

Gately Stadium

Gately Stadium was constructed in 1955 and was named after James H. Gately, a longtime businessman in the nearby Roseland community, and President of the Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners.

Hanson Stadium (old)

Hanson Stadium

Hanson Stadium sits on historic Chicago land that was home to the Hanson Family farm which dates back to the 1800’s. The now 2,000- seat stadium in Hanson Park will have a complete renovation in time for the 2022 academic school year.

Lane Stadium

Lane Stadium was built in 1934 and renovated in 2007. Lane is named after former Chicago Superintendent of Schools, Albert Grannis Lane. In 2020 the field at Lane Stadium was named the Fritz Pollard Field at Lane Stadium, in honor of 1912 Lane Tech alum and first black quarterback and head coach in the NFL, Frederick Douglas “Fritz” Pollard.

Knute Rockne Stadium is named after legendary Notre Dame coach and football pioneer Knute Kenneth Rockne.

Stagg Stadium is named after legendary University of Chicago Football Coach Amos Alonzo Stagg and had it’s most recent renovation between 1998-2000.

Winnemac Staidum

Winnemac Stadium

Winnemac Stadium was build in the 1930’s  and is home to Jorndt Field , named after longtime Amundsen teacher and coach Louis C. Jorndt, since 2004. Winnemac Stadium and Winnemac Park are named after the former Chief of the Potowatamie Indians, Winnemac.
